Foreign bodies may be embedded in the oral cavity either by traumatic injury or iatrogenically. Cases in which a foreign body embedded in the oral cavity due to self-inflictions are uncommon and rarely reported. The discovery of foreign bodies in the teeth is often accidental and is a special situation. Detailed case history, clinical and radiographic examinations are essential to come to a conclusion about the size, nature, location of the foreign body and the difficulty concerned in its retrieval. Such an object may act as a possible source of infection and lead to complications. This case report presented a accidental impaction of self-inflicted foreign body in the form of wire in the maxillary left posterior region.

The healthcare literature contains several examples and uses of interactive videoconferencing as a consultation tool for remote clinics, or for the education of students in distant locations. However, no systematic review was conducted to evaluate the influence of videoconferencing technology as an educational tool for Dental Healthcare Personnel (DHCP). Thus, this systematic review was conducted to investigate the impact of employing videoconferencing on the learning outcomes of DHCP or dental students, as well as to explore the future prospect of implementing this tool in Saudi Arabian context. The search strategy included 11 electronic databases including MEDLINE, CINAHL full text, ScienceDirect and PubMed plus manual and grey literature searches of any relevant study in English language up to January 2018 after assessing the eligibility of the full-text article based on certain inclusion and exclusion criteria. Out of 671 studies, 17 were eligible to be included in the review. The majority of the selected literature (11 studies) was of moderate quality, while four studies were considered as being high quality and the last two were located in the poor quality category. Most of the included studies were mixed qualitative studies (12 studies) and the remaining were quantitative studies (5 studies). This review shows a positive learning impact of videoconferencing on DHCP. As, no financial or infrastructure issues are encountered, this technology seems promising with the potential in Saudi Arabian dental education, providing that leaders of Ministry of Health (MOH) and Dental Schools of Saudi Arabia can be convinced to use it.

The hypomineralized enamel lesions have 20% less mineral content, substantially reduced calcium and phosphorus ratio, and an increased carbon content which increases the likelihood of demineralization. The application of remineralizing agents on these lesions have been tried. In the present pilot study, to assess the change in mean fluorescence after the application of self-assembling peptide (SAP) on hypomineralized enamel lesions on ten MIH-affected incisors using laser fluorescence. After a single application of SAP, there was a decrease in the mean fluorescence score record with Diagnodent at two-time intervals i.e., baseline and one-month post-application. Thus, it can be concluded that the SAP application could use as a viable treatment option.

COVID-19 pandemic affected the entire education system including dentistry. Dental students were affected psychologically because of the highest risk due to the nature of their clinical training which includes working in the oral cavity using aerosol-generating equipment. The aim of this review is to present the challenges faced by the dental students.

Fibrous epulis or peripheral fibroma and ossifying fibrous epulis or Peripheral Ossifying Fibroma (POF) belong to reactive fibrous overgrowth gingiva results from a long-standing chronic local irritation. They resemble clinically similar but with different histological and radiological presentations. In this paper, two case reports of reactive fibrous overgrowths are discussed along with their management. The first case is a 27-year-old female patient who had a growth in the labial aspect of the gingiva of the upper incisors. The second case was a 37-year-old male patient who had a growth in the gingiva's buccal aspect about the right canine and first premolar.

Panoramic radiographs are the first and most efficient method, used to examine and evaluate the heights of residual alveolar ridges of edentulous patients. After tooth extraction, wound healing of the extraction socket is associated with modeling processes leading to dimensional alterations of the residual ridge. Besides, alterations in the size and shape of the jawbones have been observed to occur throughout adult life and it continues further. Most of the bone loss occurs in the early stage of the atrophic process. The rate and the amount of bone loss may be influenced by various factors such as gender, hormones, metabolism, and parafunction. This study aimed to determine and compare differences in the vertical measurements of jawbones in both edentulous and dentate subjects. The study sample included the diagnostic panoramic radiographs of 53 randomly selected edentulous and dentate patients without systemic diseases affecting bone.
-The radiographic selection criteria included the absence of obvious facial asymmetry, clearly visible anatomic structure, neither surgical nor fracture history.
-The sample was divided into 3 groups:
Groupe1: 29 edentulous patients
Groupe2: 14 edentulous upper maxilla patients
Groupe 3: 10 mandibular edentulous patients
The height of the residual bone was measured at 18 predetermined sites. Results: The differences between elderly men and women in percentages of reductions in heights of the maxilla were not significant. The reduction of the anterior ridge height was greater in the maxilla than in the mandible for both sexes. Moreover, we found a significant correlation between age and bone height in both genders. Conclusion: The outcomes in the present study would contribute to better understanding of RRR in dentate and edentulous subjects.

Triple-A syndrome, also known as Allgrove syndrome, is a rare autosomal recessive disorder. The classical features of this syndrome are achalasia, adrenal insufficiency, and alacrima. Recently, dental impairment has been the subject of several case reports and reviews. However, this abnormality remains under-diagnosed. We represent the case of a 23-year-old male patient who was diagnosed with Allgrove syndrome at the age of 3. He suffered from many oral manifestations of this syndrome and especially premature loss of permanent teeth.
