Background: Dengue virus infection (DI) is an important health problem in many Southeast Asian countries. In recent years, several epidemics of DI have been reported from India. Liver involvement is known to occur in children with DI. The degree of liver dysfunction in children with DI varies from mild injury with elevation of transaminase activity to severe injury with jaundice; a few patients have presented with a clinical illness resembling liver failure. The severity of liver dysfunction varies according to the type of clinical presentation of DI, and is more common in patients with complicated dengue. Materials and methods: This is a prospective, cross-sectional, hospital-based study was carried out in the Department of Pathology at Tertiary Care Teaching Hospital over a period of 1 year. Clinical examinations were performed by a physician on each study participant. Demographic variables, as it has been published in previous work, and clinical profiles of study participants were collected by nurses using the structured questionnaire. The diagnosis of dengue was made based on positive enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay result for specific IgM antibody for dengue in serum. Result: When compared to dengue-negative cases, dengue-positive cases had thrombocytopenia, leucopenia, erythrocytosis, high hemoconcentration, low mean corpuscular hemoglobin (MCH), and mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration (MCHC). However, binary logistic regression predicted platelet count, total leucocytecount, MCH, MCHC, neutrophil count and lymphocytecountas significant predictors of dengue positivity. Conclusion: In conclusion, liver injury is nearly universal in adult patients with DI. Though liver involvement is asymptomatic in a large majority, in some patients it leads to clinical manifestations of liver disease and may occasionally lead to acute liver failure and death. Care must be taken to not make a mistaken diagnosis of viral hepatitis. Further studies are needed to define the mechanisms of liver injury due to this infection.

Now day’s children are more likely to use smartphones. They would like to use smartphones more than a textbook. They use smartphones for playing various games and watch the cartoon as well as funny videos and movies also. The addiction to using smartphones through children is increasing day by day. Maximum parents now want to teach their children via smartphones. In that case, they try to find various learning apps and games. From that sense, we decide to make a child learning apps by using Augmented Reality & Virtual Reality. AR & VR is the most powerful way of interaction nowadays. On AR apps we design an alphabets book for the children according to our survey report and we make an android app using unity 3D. When a child opens the apps, then the phone camera will open. And if the child holds the camera in any picture of the book, then the smartphone will tell the name of the alphabet and also tell a word with that particular word and will show a 3D visual model of the object on the mobile display. And on the VR apps, we design some 3d environments according to our survey. Inside the environment, there will some alphabets in some fixed placed according to sequence and the child has to collect them by walking inside the environment. When he/she pick any alphabet than the apps will tell the name of the alphabet.

Blood glucose and glycosylated haemoglobin are the two vital biochemical tests widely prescribed for the therapeutic management of diabetes and require different anticoagulants during specimen collection. If both tests can be performed using single vacutainer, it reduces the laboratory costs at a larger scale and facilitates timely intervention. The anticoagulants NaF/Na2 EDTA and K2 EDTA are used conventionally for blood glucose and HbA1c estimations respectively for specimen collection. In the current study we have investigated whether NAF/Na2 EDTA can be used for HbA1c assay without the need of separate vacutainer i.e.K2EDTA. A total of 125 subjects (25 non-diabetic and 100 diabetic) were enrolled for this study. Parallel samples were collected in NaF/Na2 EDTA and K2 EDTA to compare HbA1c levels in both the anticoagulants. The stability of HbA1c was elucidated in both anticoagulants till 72hrs of collection. The HbA1c levels in both anticoagulants showed excellent correlation (R2: 0.998). Bland and Altman analysis revealed that the bias between methods is -0.22 to +0.22%. The changes in HbA1c levels were unaltered till 72 hrs of collection in NaF/Na2EDTA and K2EDTA (mean SD: 0.066 vs. 0.058; %CV: 0.94 vs. 0.81). These results conclude that the same vacutainer used for glucose estimation can be used even for HbA1c till 72 hr of collection thus preventing the need of second sampling specifically in monitoring diabetic control. This study emphasized that a single vacutainer of NaF/Na2EDTA can be used safely for both glucose and HbA1c assays.

Candida continues to be leading cause of morbidity and mortality in large population of immunocompromised and hospitalized patients. Invasive Candidiasis due to non-albicans candida has been on the rise in last few years. Incidence rates vary geographically, often because of different patient populations studied. The present study was conducted to find out the species distribution and antifungal susceptibility of Candida species from different sources and patient population of our tertiary care hospital. A total of 103 Candida species were isolated from the different clinical specimens of suspected candida infection cases, In this study, it was observed that candidiasis can occur at all ages and in both sexes. 82 (79.6%) isolates were obtained from cases admitted in different inpatient departments of which 51 (49.5%) accounted for isolates from various ICUs mainly NICU. Most of the isolates obtained were from urine samples (44.6%) followed by blood (34.9%). Non albicans Candida were isolated at a higher rate (52.8%) than Candida albicans (47.5%). Among all species of Candida commonest isolate was C. albicans (47.5%) followed by C. tropicalis (26.21%). Overall high suceptibility to voriconazole and Amphotericin B (99.03%). This study emphasizes the need for monitoring local epidemiologic data and antifungal susceptibility pattern of candida isolates for proper treatment.

Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) is a gram negative bacterium that naturally colonizes the gastric epithelium, which causes chronic gastritis and peptic ulcer disease. Recent studies have shown that it may interfere with many biological processes and influence the occurrence of many diseases outside the stomach. Many studies have proposed a link between H. pylori infection and atherosclerosis. Atherogenic Index of Plasma (AIP) has been considered as a strong marker to predict the risk of atherosclerosis. The present study was done to assess the correlation between AIP and other lipid indices with H. pylori infection. The study comprised of 50 biopsy proven H. pylori cases and 50 age-sex matched controls. Blood samples were collected in fasting state and analyzed for total cholesterol (TC), triglycerides (TG), HDL-cholesterol (HDL) and LDL-cholesterol and the lipid indices were calculated. Lipid indices like AIP, CRI 1 & 2 & AC were significantly higher in H. pylori infected cases compared to controls. Hence these lipid indices can be used for identifying individuals at higher risk of cardiovascular diseases in H. pylori infected patients.

In this modern world, with continuous rise of vehicle ownership and usage, parking space has become a big challenge in companies, institutions and major cities as a whole. Research is on-going in this area to help solve this ubiquitous problem by the use of smart parking systems. Currently, extensive use of wireless technology applications to help solve the parking issue shows that digital data dissemination is the way to go. Infra-red (IR) technology which is a Wireless Sensor technology has attracted increased attention over the years due to its enormous application potential in diverse fields and also its potential of been an efficient and cost-effective alternative solution. This paper proposes an Authorized car parking alert system which provides advanced features like remote parking monitoring and parking reservation mechanism. The authorised car parking alert system is a typical internet of things (IoT) application that is developed using IR technology to provide services to users and parking owners of a smart institution and city. The paper describes the overall system design to implementation in the view point of sensor networks. Consideration is made of a smart parking infrastructure where sensors are laid down on the parking spots to detect car presence and IR readers are embedded into parking slot to identify cars and help in the arrangement of the parking area. Devices are endowed with wireless communication capabilities for reporting to the ground where the situation recognition is performed and also prevent unauthorized cars from entering or parking at any unassigned area.
