Hospital assessment and performance are crucial measures to evaluate the efficacy of any health Centre and it requires a
thorough knowledge about the same. A retrospective evaluation from 1st Aug 2018 to 30th Aug 2018 of the tertiary
hospital were assessed for Bed Occupancy Rate, Bed Turnover Ratio , Average Length of Stay, Mortality rate for ICUs,
Mortality rate for hospital and were subjected to mathematical formula to calculate and interpret the results. This
manuscript provides the case study and a mini review on the same. Comprehensive assessment of hospital enables the
identification of strengths and weaknesses in the system that can be used to develop new improving strategies.

Introduction: It’s not unusual that many nurses in hospitals continue to promote obsolete care practices which are
handed down and applied by tradition and custom prove to be ineffective and unnecessary, in some cases even
dangerous. The expression "sacred cows" appears in America in the 19th century and in Hinduism it refers to the honored
state attributed to these animals, a symbol of God's generosity for humanity: it figuratively refers to people or things
treated with absolute respect, immune from any criticism or dispute, particularly to old habits and routine care practices
based on tradition rather than science. These "sacred monsters" have the absolute respect and therefore it is difficult to
get rid of them. Methods: To detect the persistence of sacred care cows not only in a hospital setting but also at
university- level and based on an American online study, a survey was carried out using a nursing practice questionnaire
with "true-false" closed-ended questions: respondents were hospital and new-graduate nurses and students of central
Italy. Results: The percentage of incorrect answers shows the persistence of “non-evidence-based” practices at operative
and training level. Overall, findings are consistent with those obtained by the American survey, carried out on a larger
sample. Conclusions: Ritual practices, not supported by scientific evidences, are still anchored in nursing, firmly rooted
in cultural background of undergraduates, skilled and experienced nurses. Training and work environments fostering the
"evidence-based" culture are the greatest weapon that can make nursing free from useless, ineffective if not damaging,
traditional practices.

Background: Obesity has become a leading global public health problem and termed as millennium disease with
worldwide spread. Obesity may be a modifiable risk factor for older adult impairment which needs to be completely
addressed Aimed to: assess obesity and the functional impairment of older women. Design: Case control design was
used. Setting: The present study was done at Kafar Mosa Amran, Zagazig District, Sharkia Governorate. Subjects and
methods: 150 older women were selected for the study (75 older women case, 75 older women control) by multistage
cluster sampling technique. Tools of data collection: Three categories of tools: the first tool for measuring socio
demographic data, BMI, health characteristics of older women, practicing exercises and perception of physical fitness,
the second tool was functional impairment questionnaire; the third tool was Lawton instrumental activities of daily
livings to assess dependency of older women. Results: 98.7% of study group compare to 64.0% in the control group
were impaired and unable to function with statistically significance(X2=29.68 and P=<0.001). 13.5% of the study groups
were independent in activities of daily living compared to 42.7% in the control group. Additionally, the study revealed
that age and BMI were risk factors for functional impairment. Conclusions: Obesity in women aged 65 or older is
associated with greater risk of impaired physical function with greater dependency level on others. Recommendation:
Health education campaigns appear to be the most effective interventions to increase awareness of older women
concerning obesity related health risks. Experimental study is suggested to manage obesity burden, and the study can also
be replicated in urban areas or on larger samples.

This study was conducted to assess the nurses‟ knowledge & practices regarding crash cart. “Emergency nurses require a
strong knowledge base in every area of nursing during their practices, from pathophysiology to psychology,
pharmacology, policies and procedures, and everything in between” [1]. Drug administration is a fundamental part of
every day in nursing profession. No medication is completely safe and protected in this manner. Therefore, nurses need
to have an intensive and broad knowledge of the medications and its method of organization in the compelling treatment
of patients whose life lies in her grasp [2]. A quantitative descriptive cross-sectional study design was performed to
assess the nurses‟ knowledge and practices regarding crash cart. Data was collected through simple random sampling
technique. I select public health tertiary hospital to collect relevant information and data of my study from nurses
working in it. There are 265 nurses in hospital I selected 160 of them by using sampling technique with 5% estimation
error. The data was analyzed through SPSS 16 version. The results were shown in tables and graphs. The main results
found are,(n= 94) 58.8% participant are respondent medication checked periodically and exchanged based date on expiry,
and (n=66) 41.3% participant are respondent medication not checked periodically and exchanged based date expiry. In
conclusion, I would say the areas of improvement entitle to the nursing staff with increased knowledge, practice and
responsibility, accountability for improving management for crash cart within the public health tertiary hospital Lahore.
