expressed. Music on the other hand as an expressive art is a major appendage of popular culture and a fertile ground for
identity negotiation and formulation, in this instance through language use. This paper investigates the music- Hip hop,
the language- Yoruba and examines how the artiste- Ruggedman employs the use of the mother-tongue while exploiting
the general acceptability of the Yoruba language to popularise hip hop music in Nigeria .The research argues that,

The process of globalization in modern world has affected all spheres of our life – politics, economy and
culture. To realize these processes people should have a common means of communication – a lingua franca. The
English language has become this lingua franca, as about 1, 5 billion people speak English today. People of different
cultural, ethnic and religious identities should have more to share than ever before. And one of the means of their crosscultural communication in many parts of the world today is the English language. People today communicate beyond
national borders by e-mailing, chatting, blogging besides speaking and writing. Global networking has produced new
societies of hybrid and very often conflicting cultures, where people are to become pluricultural individuals. The article
deals with the problems of national language variety definition in general and special lexicography. The definition of the
term “national language” is given; its subcategories, such as “dialect”, “form”, “variety”, and “variant” are analyzed, and
the ways of the national language formation and changes are described.

King and Counsellors: Pre-Colonial Indigenous Administrative Virtues in SouthWest Nigeria as Transformative Tool in Stemming Socio-Religious Tides in Africa
Stephen Oladele Ayankeye
Page no 1-7 |
10.21276/sjhss.2017.2.1.1
One of the major challenges to transformation in Africa is insecurity due to socio-religious upheavals. The
level of insecurity in some countries in Africa is so high that it poses great threat to transformative bids in various facets
of governance. Constant security reports in the audio-visual and print media are largely on the negative to the point that
one is forced to assume that the experience is now the order of the day. The perpetrators of the evil act seem to be taking
advantage of concentration of security vigilance on city-centres rather than local settings where the recruitment and
training of the hoodlums seem to be carried out more. This implies that there is the need for an administrative procedure
that will easily detect and nip the socio- religious upheavals in the bud. This paper therefore, proposes the indigenous
administrative procedure of king and his counsellors in South-west Nigeria to transform the African societies to a more
peaceful atmosphere. This is because the indigenous administrative virtues being proposed accounted for the enduring
peaceful scenarios in the traditional African societies.

Most countries consider ISIS as one of the most dangerous terrorist organization in which operation has
brought a major threat to national security and peace in many countries, as well to human, regional and global security
and peace because of its ability to amass combatants, funding, and territory. In achieving its goals to establish a
fundamentalist Islamic state as well as to impose its worldwide view of Islam extremism, it practices political and
military tactics by the use of ruthless force on both Muslims and non-Muslims people. Ethnic cleansing carried out by
ISIS towards Non-Muslims can be considered a very serious crime and represents a part of terrorist actions which aims to
force the scenario of dividing Iraq and creating a terrorist front in its occupied territories in Iraq. The rapid advance of
ISIS in Iraq has completely changed the balance of power in the country. In addition, it threatens not only the integrity of
the country, but also leads to redrawing of borders across wider regions.

The 2015 Presidential Election and the Concession of Defeat by Goodluck Jonathan: A Recipe for the Consolidation of Democracy in Nigeria
Akaayar Felix Ahokegh
Page no 58-65 |
10.21276/sjhss.2017.2.1.10
Nigeria’s federal system concentrates enormous political and economic powers in the centre. Thus, politics for
the control of this very powerful centre have always been tense and often result to crises. This paper examines the
political variables that accounted for power-shift, from the incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan of the Peoples’
Democratic Party to Mohammadu Buhari of the All Progressive Congress. The paper holds that Jonathan’s acceptance of
defeat opens a new chapter in the political history of Nigeria, which invariably would translate to the consolidation of
democracy in the country. As a mark of conclusion, the paper suggests the following palliatives: politicians should
sustain the Goodluck Jonathan spirit of sportsmanship, demonetization of the polity and a redefinition of the nation’s
federal system, to devolve more powers to the component parts.

Azerbaijan (Atropatgan) is one of the main and ancient places of Iran where it has Aryan residents. In this
paper, attempt is made to study the race and people living there from the perspective of anthropology and ethnology. In
fact, it is based on this question that whether or not, the people resided in Atropatgan have an Aryan race as other
Iranians. To find the answer, first we have considered the race of people in the Iranian Plateau based on appearance,
color, hair, and skull regarding different zones, oldness and the presence of various nations as some factors making
integrated races. Conducting the research based on field studies, we have considered the race of people in Atropatgan and
measured their skulls. Moreover, we have done anthropological studies on items such as the color of skin and hair, head
size, forehead, eyebrows and eyes in cities and villages of the eastern Azerbaijan. To do this, some measuring tools have
been used like compasses to measure the head and skull-graduated compasses with a movable beam. Then, the researcher
has compared racial characteristics in this area with other peoples of Iran. Thus, according to anthropological and
ethnical criteria of people in Atropatgan, we came to this conclusion that they have the same race (i.e. Aryan) similar as
other Iranians who are the reminders and grandchildren of Aryan and Parse Medes. Therefore, the opposite is completely
rejected on the view of the racial characteristics and all documents accounts for their Aryan race.

10.21276/sjhss.2017.2.1.13
Open green spaces are considered as an integral part of university campuses worldwide and the related studies
reveal the significant impact of the green spaces on the quality of life in the campuses. Thus, scholars have also stressed
the need of revitalization of outdoor green spaces in the Qatar university campus. This research investigates whether
students‘ perception has an impact on usability of green spaces, precisely, at the Women‘s Engineering Building of
Qatar University. It also considers the extent to which regional factors, such as climate and privacy, as per Islamic value,
impact the perception of usability of open green spaces. A review of the literature was conducted for exploring the
regional influence on perception and usability of green spaces. Site visits and field observation were conducted to
understand the spatial nature of the green spaces in terms of privacy and the types of green space usage in the
surrounding areas of the Women‘s Engineering Building. User‘s perception of green spaces and their impact on usability
were collected through survey questions and questionnaires. In contrast to the views of the scholars, significant
difference between perception and usability of the green spaces along the year, the findings reveal that (1) a certain
resistance to the usage of the green spaces occurs in summer; (2) there is no significant threat to the perception of
privacy, which, in turn, has no impact on the usability of green spaces at Qatar University‘s Women‘s Engineering
Building.

This paper explored the influence of selected factors on the marketability of counterfeit and pirated products in
Dar-es-salaam region using factorial analysis. The paper followed claims of an upsurge of counterfeit and pirated
products in markets and the potential of resulting negative impacts on the health of individuals and overall economic
development. A cross-sectional research design and structured questionnaires were used to collect information. The
results suggest that factors like the level of income, education (awareness), price and government policies are the key
drivers for the purchase of counterfeit and pirated products in Dar-es-salaam region. The study recommends of
strengthening the enforcement mechanisms of the existing laws and regulations which deal with discouraging
substandard products and unfair practices in markets, putting in place deliberate measures to increase public awareness of
the consequences and effects ensuing from the use of counterfeit and pirated products, addressing shortfalls in the
intellectual property rights protection laws and regulations and increasing surveillance by the police, inspectors and

10.21276/sjhss.2017.2.1.15
This study was designed to examine the perspective of the student-teachers’ on the embedded soft skills
program implemented in one of the public universities in Malaysian. The study sought to identify the most frequently
learned soft skill elements in accounting courses; the relationship between awareness of the soft skills learned and the
soft skills grade-performance evaluation; the most effective strategy used to adapt the soft skill elements; and, finally, to
analyze the learning outcome achievement of the soft skills learned through accounting student-teachers’ perspective.
The researcher surveyed 122 accounting student-teachers from the Faculty of Management and Economics (FME) using
an adapted questionnaire from The Effectiveness of Academic Programs at Higher Education Institutions towards
Lifelong Learning by Amaludin, Lee, Pandian, and Sirat [10] with coefficient alpha 0.92. The findings indicated the most
frequently integrated soft skill elements in the accounting courses were critical thinking and problem solving. The
relationship between awareness of the soft skill elements and marks of soft skills indicated the existence of a relationship
that was statistically correlated at a p value less than 0.05with r= .460 for the highest relationship that existed between
awareness of soft skill in leadership skills and marks of soft skills. Problem-based learning strategy was the most
effective strategy used by the lecturers in adapting the soft skills learned, and the accounting student-teachers believed
the learning objectives of the embedded 7 soft skill elements were achieved within the range of 57.4 to 88.5%.
