This study examined language use of the exogamous families in Southwestern Nigeria in order to find out the language choice in a range of domains (formal and non-formal) and with different speech partners. The theoretical framework adopted for this study is Fishman’s (1972) Domain Analysis. Language use questionnaire was structured and administered to these families. The population of the study included nine hundred (900) respondents drawn from twelve (12) Local Governments of South-western Nigeria and the respondents were strictly from exogamous families. Data collected were analysed using statistical tool. The findings revealed that English language is the most used language among the exogamous marriage families in South-Western Nigeria in both formal and non-formal domains. The study also revealed that the children of all the exogamous marriage families have language socialization as they acquired at least one of the languages spoken by their parents easily, but lack the use of it in everyday dialogue rather they prefer to use English. This is because, they lack balance bilingualism or 'multilingualism. The researchers recommended that comparable research could be conducted on exogamous couples living in both rural and urban communities in order to enrich the knowledge of the sociolinguistic findings and better assessment.
This study, titled "Gyambon Ciki da Magungunansa a Bahaushiyar Al’ada (Ulcers and their Hausa Tradomedical Remedies)," was motivated by the researcher’s long-term observation of ulcers as a silent killer in Hausa and other African communities. The study is grounded in Talcott Parsons' "functionalism theory of culture," which views society as an interdependent system where each part contributes to the stability and functioning of the whole. Just as organs in the human body must work together for proper functioning, so must the interconnected parts of society. The research focuses on the meaning, nature, types, symptoms, and effects of ulcers, as well as preventive and curative measures from the perspective of Hausa culture. It is limited to the Hausa community in Kebbi State, Northern Nigeria. Using a qualitative approach, the researcher gathered data through interviews with experts in both traditional and orthodox medicine, as well as individuals affected by ulcers. The study's major findings include a comprehensive list of locally sourced food items, plants, herbs, and animals used in managing ulcer conditions among the Hausa. Additionally, the research reveals that some of the remedies are of Islamic origin.

This article starts with the visual analysis by an analytical tool "Citespace" in an effort to investigate the previous studies on universal grammar domestically and overseas in a macroscopic way. It turns out that universal grammar is still received much attention, but there is few systematic review on the accessibility of universal grammar in second language acquisition. Thus, this article systematically sorts out the previous studies in a microscopic way in terms of whether universal grammar can be accessed in second language acquisition. At length, the conclusion is made that currently the hot-discussed topic comes to which aspect of UG is accessible to SLA, instead of whether or not the UG is accessible to SLA.

Arab translators dealing with audiovisual products encounter enormous constraints when subtitling English into Arabic. The constraints are massive, representing linguistic and cultural as the bulk of the problematic areas. In contrast, other constraints, such as technical constraints, remain depreciated and have received less notice in research until now. Therefore, this study aims to identify the technical constraints that Arab translators face when subtitling Audiovisual products from English into Arabic. The analysis of previous contributions of some scholars and researchers revealed certain subtitling conventions wherein technical constraints such as the number of lines, characters, and words per line affect the readability and the quality of subtitling. These constraints not only exist but also seem to exist because Arabs desperately need a long overdue revolution in the subtitling industry fueled by state-of-the-art digital technology that would help tackle the technical issues associated with subtitling. The problems are investigated in depth, and solutions to overcome them are explained to enhance Arab translators' technical expertise and knowledge in generating high-quality subtitling.
