Domestic Rainwater Harvesting as an Alternative Source of Water Supply in Ribadu Cantonment, Kaduna, Nigeria

Abstract
The paper investigates the practice of domestic rainwater harvesting by residents of the study area to supplement intermittent water supplies from the public water works. Data was collected through the use of questionnaire in August 2016 and 2017, the peak of the rainy season. Results showed overwhelming percentage of respondents collects rainwater (99%) but do not drink the water collected (96%). The harvested rainwater is used for domestic needs and provides savings in income and time in search of water by residents.
