Abstract
The purpose of the study is to identify the characteristics of the Zimbabwean tour operators with a view of ascertaining how these characteristics impacted on their adoption of information communication technologies. Quantitative method was used to gather data for the study utilizing self administered structured questionnaires. The study showed that the majority of the tour operators were small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) most of whom were family owned. It was concluded that the size and ownership characteristics of the tour operators precluded them from prioritizing adoption of information communication technologies. The study recommended that tour operators need to be empowered through ICT awareness training programmes.
